Qingdao has always prioritized the protection of intangible cultural heritages, and Shinan district has formed a systematic and scientific mechanism for such protection.
The district has released the names of 15 inheritors of intangible cultural heritages, including Sun Congzhai, Li Xianxiao, Yu Qingyun, Zhang Lin and Sun Richeng, who is the inheritor of mandarin duck mantis boxing, a national-level intangible cultural heritage item.
Shinan's list of intangible cultural heritages has 20 items recognized by different governmental levels and the details are as follows:
District level (seven): Fushansuo folklore, paper cutting, Zhanshan Temple Fair, plum-blossom boxing, whistling, craftsmanship in duck-tail-shaped shortbread, and seal cutting.
Municipal level (seven): Kung fu of the Wudang Taiyi School, Pichai Yard, the Chinese zither of the Jiuyi School, the acupuncture and massage skills of the Ban family, the orthopedics therapy of the Li family, the mending skills of the Zhou family, and seafood preserving skills.
Provincial level (five): Chinese mandarin duck internal martial arts, infantile massage of the Li family, acupuncture of the Zhou family, Babaisan aesthetic skill, and the cooking skill of crispy fried chicken.
National level (one): mandarin duck mantis boxing.
